Corset Liners

Corsets can be more comfortable when worn over a liner and are protected from body oils & perspiration so they will not need to be dry cleaned as often.
Our liners are made of a cotton/lycra blend and can be hand washed and dried flat.

Cleaning & Storage

The process of dry cleaning can be rough on corsets over time, and yet the only safe way to deep clean them. The fabric can be spot cleaned with a damp washcloth or for an occasional refresh, we recommend using a product like Febreze. Spray the corset lightly on the inside lining then hang your corset by the laces in front of a fan to dry. (be very careful not to spray satin brocades, velvets and other special fabrics directly)
Hang them over a tubular hanger by the laces. They should NOT be folded or rolled for storage.

Your new corset must be broken in slowly and over time

Breaking In

Our corsets are designed to cinch the waistline an average of 4 inches but this doesn't mean you can cinch your waistline dramatically the first few time you wear your new corset. Corsets must first mold and conform to your unique shape in a comfortable laced state for several wearings, prior to lacing it tightly. They cannot sustain being tightly laced and worn for an evening out (bending, sitting, dancing etc) without being broken in properly first.
While all of our corsets undergo a thorough quality control inspection and are made of the most durable construction with strength in mind, over tightening can and will damage! The stitching may come loose or break, the front busk can tear from the pockets it is sewn into, and the grommets may pop out. Avoid these issues by taking the time to break in your new corset slowly over time.

Here are some simple guidelines for how and where to measure for your new corset or fashion item. When measuring be sure to use a fabric measuring tape.

Do you need a measuring tape? Send us a quick email with your name, address and that you'd like a measuring tape, and we will drop one in the mail to you: support@versatilecorsets.com

How to Measure yourself for a Corset or Fashion Garment

Take the following measurements while wearing a light bra and fitted undergarments. Include breast forms or padding if you will be wearing these with your new garment.

Start out standing up straight. You can take these measurements yourself without the aid of another person.

A. Full Bust: Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your bustline at nipple height. (only required for garments that cover the breasts)

B. Underbus
t: This is where your lower bra strap wraps around your body. Just under the breasts.

C. Natural Waist: This is typically just above your navel at the narrowest spot, but not always. Measure the area under your ribcage and above your hipbones where most compression is possible.

D. Upper Hip: This is where your upper hip bones are located at the top of your pelvic bone. You can usually feel these on the front sides of your torso, just under your waist.

E. Lower Hip: This area is found about 5-7 inches below your waistline.

F. Torso Length: For this measurement sit straight up in a chair with your back completely straight. Place the end of the measuring tape at your underbust, just to the side under one breast and bring it straight down to the top of your thigh.

How to Choose the Right Size Corset

For most corsets, you’ll want to subtract 3–5 inches from your waist size to determine the corset size. For example, if your natural waist is 30 inches, you would subtract 4 inches and look on the sizing chart and that would give you size 26". You may choose a size 26" or a size 24", depending on your experience and how dramatic you want your cinch to be. Remember that larger figures squish a bit more, so you may want to go with a gap of 5-6" if your natural waist is over 36".

Important:
Each of our corsets is shaped differently to accommodate for varied shapes and sizes. We recommend messaging us with any and all questions at the time of ordering so that our fit experts can guide you to the right pattern and size for your body.

If you have more questions about how to measure for a corset or how to find the correct size, please email us at support@versatilecorsets.com. We want this process to be smooth and easy for you. It's easier to send us your questions and let us help you, than to get the wrong size and have to wait for a return or exchange. We really do love to help!

I have so much good to say about this corset (Scarlett Overbust) and I'm at a loss for words. It turned out brilliant! I had it custom fit and it was so very comfy to wear no matter how tight I got it. The contrasting ruffles, trim and boning was gorgeous.

Just really surprised how well this corset (Ribbon Corset) cinches in the waist for being such a simple corset. And comfy. Very comfy. (And great quality!)
